PDL Policy Update Effective in 2023

Effective Jan. 1, 2023, legal divorce assistance is available through the MetLife prepaid legal plan (at no additional cost).

We value the people who work here, and The Johns Hopkins Health System Corporation (JHHSC) is proud of the selection of benefits we offer you. Your 2023 options remain largely the same. But your needs may have changed, so take a moment to explore what works best for you and your loved ones.

If you do not make changes to benefits during Open Enrollment, your current benefits elections will remain in effect in 2023. However, you will not be automatically enrolled in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) plan for 2023. To have an FSA for the 2023 plan year, you must enroll or re-enroll in this benefit and select your contribution amount during Open Enrollment. Elections from 2022 will not carry over to 2023.

What’s New for 2023

Modest rate changes to medical and dental plans

We are implementing modest premium increases for our medical and dental plans. These increases will help us maintain competitive plans and contribution structures now and in the future.

New, Johns Hopkins Employee Assistance Program (JHEAP)

  • As of July 1, 2022, CCA became our new vendor for our employee assistance program, JHEAP.
  • You’ll continue to be able to use the JHEAP for well-being related issues.
  • Members receive up to six sessions for counseling services for short-term needs.

PDL Policy Update

Effective Jan. 1, 2023, non-incentive-eligible employees who have paid days leave (PDL) hours banked in excess of one times their annual accrual will be cashed out down to an amount equal to the new maximum annual carry-over amount of one times their annual PDL accrual. The cash out rate is 100% and will be paid shortly after Jan. 1. For incentive-eligible employees, the entire PDL bank will be cashed out at 100% and paid shortly after Jan. 1.

Direct Primary Care (DPC) PPO Plan

This new plan option offers the same plan design as the PPO plan for in-network coverage. There is no cost for an office visit with a DPC physician. However, there is no out-of-network coverage. You’ll have access to the EHP network and the preferred network, which includes Cigna PPO physicians and providers. In addition, employees who enroll in this plan will receive a $240 pre-funded lifestyle account, administered by Forma, to spend on certain lifestyle needs, such as gym memberships, fitness classes and meditation app subscriptions. Access care 24/7 for nonemergency health concerns and more! Employees and their family members enrolled in an EHP insurance plan can download the Johns Hopkins OnDemand Virtual Care app to their mobile device.

New EHP EPO Plan

To align with system-wide harmonization efforts, the EHP EPO will be offered along with the CareFirst EPO. This new plan offering is an in-network-only health plan with the lowest premiums. Similar to the CareFirst EPO plan, you will only be covered  if you visit in-network providers which includes both EHP and Cigna preferred providers and facilities. Superior Vision Update!

EHP and the Wilmer Eye Institute are excited to announce Superior Vision Members (through the EHP Superior contract only) can now use their plan benefits to purchase their vision hardware through the Wilmer Eye Institute Optical locations. Wilmer Optical are conveniently located within Wilmer Eye Institute locations.
